What is SEO and does your website need it?

Search engine optimization, or SEO for short, is the process of affecting the visibility of a website or webpage in a search engine’s unpaid results—often referred to as “natural,” “organic,” or “earned” results. In general, the earlier (ideally the first search result page), and more frequently a site appears in the unpaid results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine’s users; visitors who can potentially then be converted into customers.

So, does your website need it?

The answer to that is a big, resounding “YES”!

SEO is vital for your business website. Without it, you’re invisible online and as a result, will have no visitors to your site. Your site simply cannot be found without an SEO strategy. Here are five reasons why you need an SEO plan if you want people to find your business and visit you online:

1. Your competitors will have implemented a SEO strategy.

If you’re not using any SEO strategies on your website, then it’s likely that some of your business competitors are using SEO to promote their businesses and draw visitors to them – as a result, they’ll get more customers than you. You need an SEO strategy or else you’ll never be able to compete online with them.

2. Your customers will demand it.

Unless you introduce them to your business, your potential customers won’t even know that you exist in the first place!. SEO is vital for online success because it allows more people to find your website and get introduced to the services or products you are offering. If nobody knows about your business, then no-one will be able to access your services or products!

3. You need to be in front of potential and existing customers online for them to find you.

If no-one knows about the services or products that you sell or how easy it is to get them from you, then who’s going to do business with you online? If you’re not visible when people do their searches and look for what you offer then they simply won’t find you – which will result in loss of potential business for you.

4. Your visitors will go somewhere else.

If your website’s not SEO-friendly, then visitors, as we have already mentioned, will not find you and will browse elsewhere. SEO is vital for the online visibility of your business.

5. Nobody will know about you at all.

If nobody knows about how efficient and easy it is to do business with you, then they won’t turn to your business in the first place. They’ll go elsewhere for their business if they need anything that you supply.

By using SEO strategies on your website , your website will start to become more and more popular, too – so no-one will be able to ignore you! In fact, if your site starts gaining popularity due to the SEO techniques that it uses, then even your competitors might want to try out what you’re doing in order to see why they’re losing customers to you – remember that they’re just as desperate for business as you are!

So, how does it work?

There are many aspects involved in achieving high rankings including on-page and off-page factors that need to be considered when carrying out an SEO strategy. At KCOR Web Creations, our staff has been helping customers achieve success with their SEO strategies since the early 2000’s.

Is Google the only show in town?

This article focuses heavily on Google search results, simply because that’s the most widely used search engine. However, much of this information can apply to many other search engines too. Bear in mind that just because a website doesn’t appear on the first page of Google or Yahoo, doesn’t mean that it won’t show up on the second or third. The further down you go, the less traffic a website will get from a given search.

SEO is an investment. It’s not a “plug and play” solution that will magically bring you more customers right away. SEO takes time to improve your ROI (Return on Investment). Nevertheless, it’s definitely worth the efforts. .

We start at the beginning

Every strategy starts with knowing where you are and where you would like to be. In simple terms. We can help at this stage by creating benchmark reports (where you are) and defining your goals (where you want to be). The reports that we create will include realistic keywords/phrases you can target and an overview of your competitors so you know what they are doing, and areas you can improve on.s on high traffic sites, the more likely your website will rank well in search engines.

  1. Keyword report: this is run in order for us to establish the best keywords, namely search terms, to target initially. Among the elements we are looking at are keyword traffic and current competition. We are also looking at ways we leverage the main keywords. And exploring alternative, focused keywords for your business.
  2. Ranking Report: once the target keywords are established, a ranking report is run to see how your website is ranking for these keywords vis-a-vis your competitors.
  3. Competitor’s Report: this will help us strategize and refine the keywords we are targeting.

The SEO landscape has changed a lot but the foundation has stayed the same. A list of these foundational items are included below.

On-site and Content Optimization: this is the nuts and bolts of your website which will be reviewed for any on-site optimization fixes such as unique title pages, meta description, image alt inclusion, internal linking, social media incorporation, keyword targeting and density on pages to be optimized, etc. Below are the items that remain relevant through time.

Throughout time and with all the different Google updates many elements of SEO have changed, but one thing remains constant and that is the importance of a solid foundation of the basic SEO principles. A more advanced SEO campaign will not be successful unless it is built upon a solid foundation.
